Tiger photobombs couple’s wedding photo

Karma, Banda and Andrew (Vicki Boulter)

Karma and Andrew Madgwick weren’t expecting a tiger to crash their wedding. But that’s sort of what happened last weekend, when the newlyweds were posing for photographs at their reception at the Paignton Zoo in Devon, England.

The couple was standing in front of a glass barrier outside the zoo’s forest habitat, passionately gazing into each other’s eyes, when a female Sumatran tiger wandered into shot.

“It was amazing,” Vicki Boulter, the wedding photographer, told Cornwall’s Western Morning News. “We were talking and Karma shook her wedding dress. Within 20 seconds she came over. I think she thought it was dinner. She was gone just as quick but we managed to get the photo.”

The pair—who were married earlier in the day in nearby Exeter—didn’t realize the endangered tiger, named Banda, had gotten so close.

But Karma, 30, who teaches performing arts at South Devon College, took it in stride.

“A very scary moment and one fabulously unique wedding picture,” she wrote on Facebook. “We are loving married life. We are also going to adopt Banda now.”

Andrew, a 25-year-old videographer, is even using the “tigerbomb” as his Facebook cover photo.

Karma added: “The perfect service for a crazy cat lady like me!!!”

Are Natural Wedding Cakes the Next Big Trend?

We’re all familiar with the phrase, “less is more,” and apparently, that applies to wedding cakes. Left and right, we’re seeing more and more frosting-less wedding cakes, and shockingly enough, they somehow seem to exude class. You may assume that un-adorned cakes would appear cheap and lacking effort, but if done properly, the effect is quite the opposite.

Hilary Duff included a naked wedding cake in her fairytale wedding theme in 2010, and even Victoria Beckham had one for her wedding in 1999, but she’s always been ten steps ahead of every trend. Understated and natural, these cakes seem to convey a similar character as “rustic” baked goods and recipes- a feeling of comfort and home.

The online experience will also include jewelry, shoes, and foundation garments, so there’s everything a bride needs in one place!”

Should I hire a videographer?

We provide many services to help make your wedding ceremony and reception memorable and capture those memories for a lifetime.  Photos are vital for preserving the elements that made the day special.  But often times I hear that couples don’t find  videotaping their wedding day as important.  Here are a few thoughts that contradict those feelings.

While a bride gets ready for the biggest day of her life,  isn’t she usually wondering what her husband-to-be is thinking?  We capture that moment with an interview of the groom.  What about his thoughts as she walks down the aisle?  What was he saying?  With the aid of a wireless microphone, those words can be heard again and again.  Did I really cry while saying my vows?  A photo can catch a tear, but a videographer can capture that tear in your voice as well.

At the reception, how good did we look when we marched into the hall?  It’s more memorable in motion.  And what about that toast?  Was everyone laughing as hard as we were?  Did my maid of honor really cry throughout most of it?  Were all eyes on me during our first dance?  And how did our parents react?  Was this a moment I truly never want to forget?

At the risk of being overly sentimental, I look back on weddings I have filmed and smile, knowing that beloved parents and grandparents are able to be remembered animated and happy as they watch their children and grandchildren pass another milestone.  And, of course, I have interviewed countless friends and relatives who look right into the camera and leave well-wishes and anecdotes that the bride and groom might not hear through the course of a hectic and busy day.

So, if  a videographer is in your budget, why not preserve your memories in more than one medium?  And besides—it’s a great excuse for an after-wedding movie night get-together.

Wedding Day Timeline

Well, it happened again.  Another bride came to me with NO idea where to start.  A simple timeline was the answer.  And I’m always happy to see the frustration leave the bride (and maid of honor’s) face as I explained how everything could be taken care of and her day run smoothly.

Wedding coordination is definitely in my blood.  I’ve been organizing events since I was little.  Neighborhood puppetshows with snacks was where I got my start.  I may have been all of six, I’m not sure.  Later it was desks and sock drawers at home, followed by a home of my own, life with three small children, and lastly, social and charitable events.  From charity luncheons to PTA carnivals to class reunions, my family has witnessed me plan events from the ground up, as well as tweak established happenings and make them run smoother.  Planning weddings is definitely a natural progression, after following brides around with a camera, video camera, and/or microphone.

Do YOU need help with this important aspect of your day?  Please give me a call.  I’d love to help you!  As part of your service from our company, I make sure you are comfortable and are aware of what needs to be done as well as offer you some options on what can be done.

Our photographers and videographers will keep you on track and make sure that you get the pictures you want — the memories that you will keep long after the wedding is over.  And our DJs make sure that the LAST accessory you should need on your big day is a watch.  A careful review of the day before the wedding ensures that YOU don’t have to worry.

The running joke is that I’ve taken on the role of Jennifer Lopez (aka:  “The Wedding Planner”).  Truth is, I have….and I enjoy it.  Call me–let me prove it to you!
